This is a cover idea for a book I am currently working on with writer/journalist Mike Brooks. It is a collection of short stories about a gentleman explorer/inventor/adventurer that takes inspiration from literature and events from the Victorian era.

Clean on the inside

This illustration was done to try out a new method of working, with hand-drawn pen and ink drawing and colouring up in photoshop. Previously I was doing everything digitally, but really missed the hand-drawn element that real materials gives.

St Brendan

Here is a short cartoon of a story from the life of St Brendan. St Brendan was a sixth century Irish monk, and the Navigatio was an eighth century story of his epic voyage.

In this story St Brendan and his crew land on a small island and light a fire to cook some food. When the island starts moving they realise it is not an island at all...
